Began Still Life 22.
I have and maintain this site, not as a blog. There isn’t a message. This is my online digital scrapbook. Even though it probably looks as though I write things for others this sight and its posts are for me but I don’t care if others look at my site.Â
Lately I’ve only been using this scrapbook to keep a record of the steps of each painting. This is useful to me.Â
Occasionally I look back through my trips. At the end of each day of a trip or the next day, I will add photos I find interesting from the day with notes about what I saw and did that day.
Some people have told me that on their devices some photos are rotated. On my phone and MacBook, they are good. I’m not going to chase my tail.

This will be Still Life 19. I’m going to try a few orchid paintings. Pretty subtle stuff.

This is the first step of what will be Still Life 26. I’m attempting to do future small still-life paintings in three sessions. For these realistic paintings, I’ve switched to oil-primed smooth Belgium Linen. It’s very expensive but these are small paintings. Oil primer does not suck the oil out of the paints as does acrylic primed canvas. Also, it’s a very smooth surface that is easily covered with a single coat. With the rougher canvas, it’s difficult to completely cover in one or two passes. I will attempt to finish this painting in three sessions but I know that won’t happen. The goal is to finish it in about two weeks instead of months.
