Worked on Still Life 8. This is almost finished. Just details remain. As in all of them, the glass stem and base need some work.
A few weeks after I finish a still life I will “oil it out” which is putting a little linseed oil on a lint-free material such as flannel and rubbing oil onto the painting. After not too long some areas of an oil painting “sink”. Depending on the color the oil from the paint can sink down into the canvas. It also depends on the primer used on the canvas. Most canvas is primed with acrylic which the paint can sink into. Oil primer is the best but few people do this at home. Oil-primed Belgium Linen is the best but costs a fortune.
