Finished Still Life 13. Before Monday I need to finish all of my original group of still life paintings. They need to dry for at least a week before I “oil out” all of them before I give them away. The oiling out will make all of them look better. The backgrounds have all “sunk” at least a little bit. Rubbing them with a little linseed oil will give them that luxurious oil painting look.

Pretty much finished and signed Still Life 13. The usual suspects, the glass base, a few highlights, details, and corrections remain but it’s not much.

Worked on Still Life 13. In September I’ll be taking a three-week trip to the Southwest to fish, maybe the Conejos River and tributaries in southeast Colorado, and to take landscape photos to use as reference for some loose, impressionistic paintings. The landscape I painted a few months ago was a lot of fun and it was fast. Plus people like that type of thing much more than realistic still life paintings.
