This morning I finished and signed Landscape 4. I like this quite a bit. I don’t name paintings. If I did UFO Clouds would be a good name.

It seems that when I glue a piece of canvas to a Blick MDF panel mounted on a cradle it causes the mounted panel to warp. So for larger paintings, over 12 x 9, I’m going back to the old reliable canvas mounted to stretcher strips. Today there is a large selection of stretcher strips. There are standard, medium-duty, and heavy-duty, and there are different brands. There are also aluminum stretcher strips.

Worked on the middle and foreground of Landscape 4. Next week I’ll finish this one. I’m going to put a significant frame around this and hang it where it will be seen even though I’ll probably like this more than anyone else will.

Worked on the clouds of Landscape 4. I’ll have to paint the dark blues of the clouds again. I love this painting and hope I don’t screw it up. It’s abstract. Almost like a UFO cloud bank. Tonight or tomorrow morning I’ll paint and maybe finish the middle and foreground.

Worked on the blue sky, middle ground, and foreground of Landscape 4. A while ago I made corrections to the blue sky which I thought blended in with the original blue. A week ago I took a photo of this painting. In the photo, the corrections showed up as halos around clouds so this morning I repainted the blue. There is work to do on the middle ground and foreground, especially the large bushes.

Winter is finally here. The next few days will be snowy and cold but we like it as long as we don’t have to shovel it and the driving isn’t dangerous.
