Worked on all of Landscape 2. I’ll have to paint one more session on this followed up with some finishing touches. This is taking way too long. I’ve been tempted to throw it out but it’s from a photo from my last trip to the Bighorn Mountains and it’s a fond memory. This is a pretty area on the way to and from Greybull, Wyoming, and my campgrounds up in the mountains.

Worked on Landscape 2. Almost have the base layer of the mountain where I want it. Will probably paint the base layer of the mountain one more time before I add some details. This mountain is worn so the edges are subtle which makes it difficult for me. Maybe in a year, it will be easier.

Reworked all of Landscape 2 the last couple of days. I’ll rework it one more time and then finish off the details. This should be finished in a couple of weeks because of the drying time between painting sessions, a week between each session.

I think I will finish five or six paintings in January.

These two will be the next two paintings I will begin maybe by the end of the month. One will be 16 x 20 and one will be 20 x 16.

The captions of the two paintings are the command I gave the MidJourney AI program. It took a couple of weeks to narrow the images down to these two images and a handful of others. You give it a command with whatever parameters and it produces four images. Then you can vary any or all of the four images in a few different ways and you get four different images for each one. I did this many, many times. The command in the captions was the original command. I’ve wanted to do oil paintings of closeups of clear, rocky streams for a while. It won’t be easy. I’ll paint the bottom of the stream entirely with grays. After the grays dry I’ll paint over the grays with different colors transparent glazes. That’s old-school oil painting.

Reworked the blue part of the sky. When it dries I’ll rework the lighter slightly greenish blue just above the mountains before finishing the mountains and foreground. I took the reference photo last year in between Ranger Creek Campground in the Bighorn Mountains and the town of Greybull, Wyoming. It’s a pretty area with some attractive ranches. There are a few cattle in the foreground of the photo which I will paint.

Did some work on the clouds in Landscape 2. Next, I’ll repaint the blue sky, touch up the clouds, and then do the foreground. A few of the landscapes won’t take that long to finish up.

Worked on Landscape-Original 2 which I started in May of 2022 when I was in the Bighorns Mountains. I took a step backward today but I initially painted this in my trailer under some LED lights and the colors weren’t right. It was in the 40s outside.
